Leopard’s Prize
Short Video of Leopard Coveting its Prized Prey - Kruger National Park, South Africa
This male leopard is skilled in protecting his prey as he takes it up a jackalberry tree in Kruger National Park in South Africa. A leopard can lift prey almost three times heavier than itself. Climbing trees provides leopards with an escape route from danger. Once they've made a kill, they often hoist their prey into the branches to avoid scavengers such as hyenas and lions that could steal their hard-earned meal. This three minute video occurred over a three hour period.
